Hi!
I have a multiple choice question page, as follows:
Questions: ---
answer 1, 2, 3, 4 in radio button.
Now, here are my problems:
1 - sometimes there is 10, other times 15, 17, 20, etc. test questions, so the number is not fix.
I wish to program a site where the questions and answers are loaded from the database and after submission a point number is generated.
I do not know how to differ the radio buttons and give them separate names and values in the cfquery. Also from the 4 radio buttons all have 0 point values except the one which is correct. Any ideas for this one? Here is a diagram to make it more simple:
question 1 ---
q_ans1 - 0
q_ans2 - 0
q_ans3 - 0
q_ans4 - 1 -> this is the correct one
question 2 ---
q_ans1 - 0
q_ans2 - 1
q_ans3 - 0
q_ans4 - 0 -> this is the correct one
in db there is a field which says: q1_ans4 is correct...
etc...

The only thing that I would add to your DB is a question number that is a unique ID per question like an auto-number or identity field
Since you have a course code you can already group your questions.
You simply need to at the top of the quiz page do a cfquery like
select * from mytable where qa_course = #currentcoursenum#
Then on the page you can display the questions like this:
<cfoutput query="myqueryname">
Question #currentrow# : #qa_q1#
<input type="radio" name="question#currentrow#
<input type="radio" name="question#currentrow#
<input type="radio" name="question#currentrow#
<input type="radio" name="question#currentrow#
<input type="hidden" name="questionID" value="#qa_id#">
<input type="hidden" name="numQuestions" value="#myquery.RecordCoun
</cfoutput>
Then when you submit the page you will get a variable called question1 for question 1 with the value set to be 1 2 3 or 4 depending on the selected answer. You will get this for each question. You can loop from 1 to numQuestions and test each answer to see if it matches the one in the database.
