Question

ORA-00922: missing or invalid option

Asked by: kevin-t

I'm having trouble executing some PL/SQL from CFQuery using a DSNless connection to an Oracle Database.  The Coldfusion Server is Version 5.  Any help would be apprecipated!

Here is a snippet of the cfml:

<CFQUERY NAME="rs"
 DBTYPE="dynamic"
 CONNECTSTRING="Driver={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle};Server=myserver;Uid=myuid;Pwd=mypwd;">
The PL/SQL
</CFQUERY>

And the error message:

ODBC Error Code = NA000 ()

Hi kevin-t,

I'd suggest that you do it with a datasource, this syntax is depreciated in Coldfusion MX, so your writing code that can not be migrated.

Plucka

The ORA-00922 is being originated from your Oracle server, I doubt if it has anything to do with datasource. Suggest you post/ try your pl/sql from sqlplus and see if it runs ok. Are you executing a apackage or a procedure or simple sql stmts.

by: kevin-tPosted on 2004-05-26 at 19:03:21ID: 11167742

I have successfully run the pl/sql from sqlplus.  The pl/sql executes a package as well as a function that is defined within the pl/sql.

if ur calling a package then the syntax for that wld be as

<CFSTOREDPROC PROCEDURE="package.procedurename" DATASOURCE="DSN">
      <CFPROCRESULT NAME = RS1><!--- returns the recordset for u from ur pl/sql procedural block [ignore this if ur not returning a recordset] --->

    <CFPROCPARAM TYPE="OUT" CFSQLTYPE="CF_SQL_DATE"  VARIABLE="x" DBVARNAME="@param2">
</CFSTOREDPROC>

the above is just a example on how to set things up for calling a procedure ...

There's nothing wrong with running anonymous blocks this way, you don't necessarily have to use a procedure. Even though I personnaly don't use it, anonymous PL/SQL blocks can be executed through cfquery with ODBC drivers - you simply enclose your code block within a matching pair of cfquery tags with the appropriate data source attributes. If you try this with native drivers, however, you will get a ORA-06550 error. Assign the code block to a ColdFusion variable and then output the variable contents within cfquery, as shown below.  < per www.orafusion.com>

< cfset plsql_code=
   "declare
      cursor c_table is
       select
        *
       from
        your_table;
     begin
      for r_table in c_table loop
       null;
      end loop;
   end;">

<cfquery name="yourQuery"
   datasource="yourNativeDSN"
   username="yourUsername"
   password="yourPwd">

   #plsql_code#

</cfquery>

by: kevin-tPosted on 2004-05-27 at 08:16:18ID: 11172516

I receive the same error message when assigning the sql to a variable and then outputing the variable contents within the cfquery.

could yourun a very simple anonymous block to rule out any setup issues.
