Ya, I would do that, but I need a web interface for users to drop these CSVs in.

Browse All TopicsHi,
I have a script that will allow a user to upload a CSV file and it will then parse it line by line and insert each field into an MSSQL DB. This works flawlessly except when I feed it huge CSV files. Right now I am locking the server up when I feed it an 11.3MB file that has about 176,000 rows with only 4 columns.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this CSV in MSSQL via a CF Script without hosing the server? I thought of a DTS package, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Any help is greatly appreciated.

DTS is a good idea - but why involve cold fusion at all???
Just go stringht from the CSV file into MSSQL.
In enterprise manager go to your database and righclick in the table section and choose Import Data.
Then follow the wizard to select the CSV file, and use an existing table (or create new) and set up the import.
No Cold Fusion interaction needed and way faster and more efficient.
