Using the NOW function within a SQL Query

I need to run a query that will provide a recordcount for all the orders placed today.  When an order is placed i insert the value of #createODBCDateTime(Now())# into my orders table.  Now how do I check just the day party of that and match it with the date feature?

<cfquery name= "TodaysOrders" datasource= "xxx">
select date
from dbo.orders
where orders.date = ?
</cfquery>

Or if you're using MySQL:

try this...

    select [date]
    from dbo.orders
    where DateFormat([date],'DD/MM/YYYY') = DateFormat(Now(),'DD/MM/YYYY')

I'm using SQL..that first one partly works but it finds all the orders placed on any day 28 in any month...i want to specify that it's the current month & day which will be a variable.

any ideas?

Ok, that last one wasn't working..telling me that DateFormat was not a function

this is working right now but it will always show me 0 because it's got the hours minutes and seconds in it's scope..we need to filter out just MM and DD:  ALMOST THERE
