The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

CheckBox validation help!!!

Asked by jmosher44 in ColdFusion Application Server

Tags: checkbox, checked, validation

I have an app where users can select items via checkboxes,  the items are dynamically generated from a SQL table.  There are 2 pieces of info I need to pass through the form,  each Item_ID and Item_Area.  My sticking point is that Users can select as many items as they need,  but the Area_ID should be the same amongst selectd items. The reason the area needs to be the same is whenthe items are selected you also select the courierwho delivers them.  The Couriers record is updated to reflect the geographic are he is in based on the Area_ID.  If multiple items are selected each with  a different areas it causes a few different errors.

Here is a brief example

ItemID       Item       AreaID       Chckbx

111          John        5
112          Mike        4
113          Joe          5
114         Steve        2

in this list you can check as many as you need so long as they have the same AreaID. This implementation may sound strange but the theory behind it is as follows.  It's a part of a courier dispatch application,  the list of items delivered is created from a sql query run to return items that are in the db with a status of undelivered,  the dispatcher can select and assign items from the list, but I need to ensure all the items are in the same area so the drivers record can be updated to represent what area they are in.  I'm sure I can accomplish this by creating a form for each area I just was hoping I could do it with one list inside of 1 form and use some method to validate it.  I also figured if it is possible one of you gurus would know exactly what to do.
