Spry validation using coldfusion

I have 3 fields that need to be validated. If US is selected I need to validate SSN is required , If not US I need to make SSN optional and other citizenship and visa type have to required fields. So I wrote a little script that does that. However on the form the script seems to be working but when I click submit it still require the SSN. Please help
