The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Problem upgrading from Coldfusion MX to 6.1 (missing file)

Coldfusion MX will not install on Windows 2003. This is a known compatibility issue with IIS 6.
The recommended fix on the Adobe site (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19521) is to:
a) Upgrade for free by installing the 6.1 version upgrade
b) Run the Coldfusion 6.1 Updater that provides some fixes to version 6.1

The problem I have is highlighted in the Paragraph:
"What if I have ColdFusion MX, and not MX 6.1?"
Immediately beneath this heading is a 'link' that says "Update Cold Fusion to 6.1" -- but this link points
to upgrade purchasing information for version 8.  And if you follow the Updater page link, in the paragraph that refers to MX (pre 6.0), there is only a link to the 6.1 Updater that assumes 6.0 is already installed. There are references to the update file in the Macromedia site and elsewhere:
http://www.macromedia.com/go/cfmx_updater
However,  this is now a broken link.

So -- bottom line is -- does anyone know where to get the updater file?  Maybe some hot fixes would do the trick, but I didn't see a bunch that seemed to be related to upgrading from MX to 6.0 -- but there is also another problem -- you can't do an install of MX (using IIS as the web server) on Windows 2003 -- so you can't easily do a hot fix that requires a preinstalled version. Perhaps I can install the standalone browser version and then modify it later, but I think I still need the upgrade.Start Free Trial
