I know that RDS is insecure so I have never used it, however I would like to look into some of the features when integrated with report builder. I want to change the port number so that I can make it one that is only available on my VLAN. The article that you provided says nothing about changing the port number that RDS runs on, it only states how to configure Coldfusion Report builder to work with RDS.

what do you use RDS for? with CF the developers edition allows you to test everything locally. best to turn it off. helps to secure the server. For database browsing you can use an eclipse plugin (SQLExplorer) you can also use Navicat, Enterprise Manager etc. the only problem i ever had was accessing the administrator remotely with RDS turned off as you can not use some of the Java Applets needed.
