Coldfusion not saving session variables.

We are running Coldfusion 8.

I've been seeing a strange bug, where coldfusion will stop saving session data until I go into CF administrator and submit something.

This everything will be ok for an hour or so then back to not saving session data. This only seems to be happening on one of our projects so it's probably something simple in the application.cfc.

Here is the application.cfc settings we are using.
      <cfscript>
            this.Name = "TestApp1";
            this.applicationTimeout = createTimeSpan (0,6,0,0);
            this.SessionManagement = True;
            this.SetClientCookies = False;
      </cfscript>

under the admin panel we have the following set.
Enable Session Variables, enable application variables
max timeout application variables 2 days
max timeout session variables 31 mins

Just to be clear, it's not that the session is timing out. When it gets into this mode the session won't initialize until I go into the CF administrator and click one of the submit buttons.

What exactly in that article answers my question? DId I ask how to setup a session variable?

If you actually read my question you would see that the problem is that the session variables work then stop working. Not that they time out. They STOP working until I go into CF Administrator and hit the submit button. It's probably something simple with my setup. but I need someone to give me a little bit more help than pointing me to a generic article.

Thanks anyways though.

Any thoughts on which log I should look at and what I would be looking for?

Session variables are stored into storage.
If the storages is exhausted then you should see an error in the log files.
Look into exception log, but server log and application log could also be intersenting.

Have you set the Application.cfm file to allow session variables?

EG: <cfapplication sessionmanagement="yes" sessiontimeout="20">
