Rendering PDF with CF8 very slow due to iptables firewall. Is there a work around?

When generating a PDF document of a report using the cfinclude tag inside cfdocument tags it takes approximately 4 minutes to generate a document that takes about 4 seconds if called directly instead of as a template. Found that turning off the iptables firewall fixes this problem. I assume this is caused by multiple connections/disconnections to the database which is on another host. Any way to get around this problem?
