cfgridcolumn date mask not working

I cannot seem to get my date to format properly using the mask option for cfgridcolumn.  I've tried both of these and they do not work:
Attempt1:
<cfgridcolumn name="EnteredDate"
header="Entered Date"
mask="MM/DD/YYYY">
Attempt2:
<cfgridcolumn name="EnteredDate"
header="Entered Date"
type="date"
mask="MM/DD/YYYY">

You could try something like this in your select statement in the query. 

date_format(datefield, '%M %e, %Y')

Thanks.  For some reason, I missed your replys until now.  When I change grid to flash, I get a cpinning circle that looks like a clock.  Any clues?

That normally means it is waiting for data. Like from your cfc or query. I think it would be easier to format your data in the select statement.

Lets say you has a date field called cdate this is what it would look like. 

SELECT CONVERT(varchar(10), cDate, 103) AS mydate

Error I get: Undefined function 'CONVERT' in expression.  Sample select:
SELECT  TaskName, CONVERT(varchar(10), StartDate, 103), CONVERT(varchar(10), EndDate, 103), Recurring FROM tblScheduledTasks

What database server are you using this was for MS SQL.

MySQL would be like this. However for both you do need an "as" statement. See "as mydate".

select date_format(cdate, '%m/%e/%Y') as mydate

I use Access for test and SQL for production.  Looks like this is not a good option for me afterall.  Any reason why I wouldnt be able to get the Flash to work.  Seems like maybe I should try that again.  Unless you have another suggestion??

Personally I would go with RickEpnet's suggestion of formatting the dates in your query.  You just need the MS Access equivalent of the functions Rick mentioned:  For MS Access it is Format(....)

The HTML grid is so much cleaner and I think much easier to read.

On the flash how are you trying to populate the grid. I know with a query but is the query in the cfm file or a cfc file?

(Also you do not have to muck around with flash actionscript. Nothing wrong with it, but not everyone knows it well)
