What is the table definition?

by: bibi92Posted on 2009-08-27 at 04:17:30ID: 25196606

SQL> desc T_NET;
 Name                                      Null?    Type

 M_ID                                   NOT NULL NUMBER(10)
 M_FBRUT_ID                                      VARCHAR2(100)
 M_NUMBER                                        NUMBER(5)
 M_DATE                                          DATE

 M_DATA                                          CLOB
 M_STATUS                                        VARCHAR2(10)
 M_STATUS_DATE                                   DATE

I don't understand. The table definition does not have description for mnet_data. Is this a column in the table? If so, is it a varchar2 field?

Or is it some varialble?

Sorry it's :
update T_NET set m_data = '20090826'
where m_id=416713
and m_data = dbms_lob.substr(m_data,1630,8)

Thanks

Bibi

by: ravindran_eeePosted on 2009-08-27 at 04:33:15ID: 25196715

m_data = dbms_lob.substr(m_data,1630,8)

What are you trying to achieve here? The condition does not sound logical. You are trying to compare the CLOB with substring of the same! Let me know the actual purpose of the query so that we can reframe it

by: bibi92Posted on 2009-08-27 at 05:25:18ID: 25197116

In the field mnet_data with the position 1630-1641 there is a value: 20090610 and I wish update with value 20090826
Thanks a lot

UPDATE with BLOB is not going to work. I think you need to write a PL/SQL code making use of dbms_lob.write
