aother checkbox error

I have a checkbox and am getting "cannot convert the value "''" to a boolean "

when I go to the form. what am I missing here?

 <input name="EmailTest" type="checkbox" id="EmailTest" value="1" <cfif form.EmailTest>checked</cfif>>

it means that form.EmailTest is not able to be evaulated as either true or false.

WHat is it's value.

it's a bit in sql server 2005

Based on the error message it can't be.  Do what Plucka suggested and dump the value right before that error occurs:

Well perhaps something is resetting it between the <cfparam and the bit where it's blank.

<cfdump it after the param and see if it's 1 and if it is (it should be) some other code is reseting it.

Also, make sure #form.EmailTest# really is undefined (not just an empty string) _before_ the cfparam statement.  Otherwise, the cfparam will have no effect.

agx is right, you can also change the <cfparam to this

<cfif not isDefined("form.EmailTest") or form.EmailTest eq ""><cfset form.EmailTest = 0 /></cfif>

there was a cfif statement resetting it. thanks for the help troubleshooting. :-)

I'm sure i'll have more questions over the next few days
