IIS trying to deploy web sit

I'm running an older version of iis. it came with my backoffice 4.0. I've got a web site that i'm trying to post to the world.

if i take the www out like (http://website.com) i get an authentication box wanting user name password and domain. if i give it the info i can see the web site.

if i put the www in like (http://www.website.com)it says that it can't find my web site.

Any help appriecitated.

you are running a dns on your BOS!
add a DNS Alias record ("www") with your server IP to your domain "website.com"

There are 2 parts to your question. The authentication issue you are getting is either due to insufficient or no rights granted to the ananymous account or anonymous access has been disabled in IIS or both. Make sure the webroot folder has IUSR_machinename granted 'read' access and the anonymous access has been granted in IIS if you do not want to be promted.
