Browse All TopicsHey,
I'm looking into hosting a MS SQL driven asp.net site. Currently the front runners for hosting the site are hostonce.com. However, they seem to have trouble answering sales enquires.
Basically what I'm trying to find out is in relation to sub-domains. Do you know if a subdomain is its own application (ie diff subdomains are seperate applications), or just part of the whole application? Or is it something that can change server to server?
Also, would you recommend a different web host. I need MS SQL, and the standard 25 MB most sites offer isn't enough DB space. It needs to be MS (IIS) (MS SQL and asp.net). Hostonce is 80 US a year, with an extra 80 US for the MS SQL database.
Thanks a lot for any information you can give me regarding this.

(Their plans: http://shop.securewebs.com /virtual-p lans.html)
-->
Subdomain can be part of your application and can be an independent application.
The key is how you define where it goes.
If you use subdomain, means in IIS you have to setup different website for that. If you are familiar with IIS, you can know that under Home Directory, you can either set your website to specific folder or redirect it into a specific url.
If you redirect to specific url, means you make your subdomain website become a dependant application.
In another hand, if you set its own folder, you can create independant application for your subdomain site.
Does it make sense to you?
