The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I am having difficulty converting an asp application from a win 98 pws machine to IIS.

Asked by filibuster1015 in Microsoft IIS Web Server, Adobe Type Manager

Tags: driver, db, error

Greetings...

I have an asp document running at: http://136.183.4.135/cdc/displaywnyschooldistrict.asp. This document currently runs on a windows 98 machine running personal webserver. The data comes from an access database via a dsn connection.

I am now trying to upgrade to windows xp and IIS. My attempt can be found at: http://136.183.4.204/cdc2/DisplayPTSummer.asp

The IIS server seems to be functioning correctly as I can view other pages on this server over the internet.

I'm not sure why it is I am getting an error. I've set the user dsn odbc correctly yet I get the error:

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
/cdc2/DisplayPTSummer.asp, line 18

I've reviewed the data source path and database name found in odbc management and it is correct. The default driver is set at odbcjt32.dll

Do you know how I can fix this error? It was suggested earlier that I use a dsn-less connection, but that doesn't seem to be an option right now. I'd prefer fixing this dsn/odbc connection. But HOW?

Thanks,
Phillip
