Multiple Websites on same machine

I need to get multiple sites working on my Windows XP machine so i can perform testing from the root. Because all the links and paths point to the root in the websites. I want to have something like :

http://localhost1
http://localhost2

But since im not on windows server, i've only a default website in my IIS. Is it possible to use the above by mapping it to an application or any other means ? I really dont know how to link this up by adding entries in
notepad.exe %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Please advise
