Encryption without a certificate?

I am trying to find encryption for our company users, but I don't want to have to pay $200/yr for a wildcard ssl certificate. Is there another way???

It's for a couple of websites we host, not sensative information, but protecting it would be in my best interest ;-)

If its for your own companies users then why not just install certificate service on one of your boxes (assuming you are using MS servers) and publish your own company cert for free. Users then just need to add it their their trusted certificates list (or you can assign it through AD policy).

Looks initially complicated but it isnt really once you've dome it a couple of times.

Don't even put the word FILE in there.  Just do this:

<A HREF=\\servername\sharename>LINK HERE</A>

IE and HTTP 1.1 appear to be smart enough to tell the difference.  Give it a shot.

The IIS 6.0 Resource Kit version 1.0 was released 5/30/2003. It contains a utility called SelfSSL.exe for instantly creating and installing a self-signed testing certificate into IIS. The resource kit is freely downloadable from the Microsoft website. Although the tool is intended for IIS 6.0, it works just as well on IIS 5.1. It is so simple to use that no instructions are required beyond the pointer to the download.
