The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Running Server Side Script .bat/.vbs file with ASP

Asked by getzjd in Microsoft IIS Web Server, Active Server Pages (ASP), Web Languages/Standards

Tags: asp, file, server, run, side

I am trying to get iisweb.vbs to execute on the server side from a webpage.  Apparently IIS5 is easy to do but I am on IIS6 2003 R2.

Lets say my webpage is http://WEBSITE with a home directory of D:\shopfloor

I have created a .bat file with the command    iisweb.vbs /stop WEBSITE /s 10.35.1.28  and it executes just fine from the desktop of the server.  I can also execute this successfully from a remote XP machine.  I even tested with the U and P parameters .. so my problem is not with the .bat file.

I tried to follow this example just to get something working http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/102998-1.shtml  but to no avail.

What should my ASP page look like ?  What changes do I need to make to IIS6.  I created a new app pool in IIS6 and assigned it to use local service and assinged it to my site.  I have given IUSR_MACHINENAME full access to system32 and cmd.exe as well as the D:\shopfloor directory.

Security is not a concern since this lives on our internal network.
