The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

"Delayed Delivery" in ISS SMTP Virtual Server?

Asked by rocketTendon in Microsoft IIS Web Server, Active Server Pages (ASP)

Tags: smtp, virtual, server, iis

We have been having some real problems with IIS and SMTP lately.... we have made no changes... nor have we re-configured anything on our IIS box or network.

I am using jmailer to send emails via SMTP... jmailer simply creates the EML file and places it in the Queue folder so that it can be delivered appropriately. This has worked flawlessly for the last 2 years.

Lately... the queue folder has been filling up with EML files addressed to OUR domain. Meaning... all the other emails (that are addressed to different domains other than ours) that are placed in the queue folder by jmail are sent just fine using the jmailer process I outlined... but any emails that are supposed to be sent to OUR domain get held up in the queue folder for some reason. There are also emails in the queue folder that are addressed to OUR domain from the webserver indicating that "Delivery to the following addresses have been delayed.... me@ourdomain.com, him@ourdomain.com, her@ourdomain.com.

Originally I did NOT have a smart host entered (This worked fine for the last 2 years)... but I went ahead and added one just in case... I also checked the "Attempt direct delivery before sending to smart host".

As soon as I restart IIS... the emails are sent to us just fine.

The following is from the "Drop" folder...

Any ideas?
