The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cleaning up WSUS, would like to know if this is a good plan/or bad plan.

Hello All,
Windows Server 2003 Ent SP1, Running WSUS.

The current situation is who ever installed this thing awhile ago must have not paid attention to the lang packs that he selected and he selected them all. it's been running this way for quite some time and our wsuscontent folder seems to be pretty large 24.1 gigs right now. I have Already gone into the Options/advanced options and changed the lang packs back to English only. So right now it's sitting at english only. The problem is that 24.1 gigs still seems to be pretty large and i want to get rid of it.

My plan is to bring down ISS, Completely Delete the Wsuscontent folder then run the wsusutil /reset command. After that, bring back up ISS then run a Manual Sync. So when i run the manual sync it will redownload every patch that is needed but this time they will be english only.

Does this seem like a good plan? could i encounter any problems with this? Is there a better way?

You see alot of people have told me that running the purgeuneeded files is a good way to clean things up.. heres the thing.. i don't want to go through my wsus console and select everything for decline.. that would take forever.. I just want to clean it all up at once.. then start over with english only patches.

Let me know what you think everyone.. thanks alot.
