I am looking to establish secure nightly file transfers between our organization and another on my Windows 2000 or 2003 servers. I have been looking at SFTP (openSSH) options as well as FTPS. I read that Microsoft does not support FTP over SSL in IIS 6.0. What solution does Microsoft offer that is comparable to SFTP? I need to encrypt the authentication and the data during the actual transfer. I am not worried about encryption after the fact, but want to prevent my data from being sniffed across the wire. Also, what seems better to you...the solutions microsoft provides or another option like sftp?

If your organization is already connected by some VPN or MPLS, you could use the DFS (Distributed File System) of Windows Server 2003.
I not and you need to transfer data across the Internet in an encrypted way, VPN - PPTP might be the only way, if you don't wanna go for a 3rd party product.
A 3rd party FTP product which runs S-FTP, then take a look at GlobalScape's FTP server, I have some experience with that and it works fine.

Hello,
if you want to use purely microsoft, then i suggest that you set up a pptp link between the servers and then bind your ftp server to the local (pptp) address and send your transfers that way.
