Company locater

I see company locaters on most commercial web sites.

I'm thinking of adding this functionality, but I'm unclear where to begin.

I have full server access (Apache/1.3.37), and I do some maintenence, but not much as I don't wish to muddy the waters for our web developer.

What I was thinking of doing is running the locater from my internal IIS6 server, and then referencing it from the main server.

What I specifically want is for a customer to input his address and get a return displaying our company owned locations, and locations of retailers that carry our product.
Direct outlets are under 10 - retailers - I dunno - 50-100 that I would actually want to list.

I'm sure I could eventually google for what I need, but I'm sure I'm not the first one to head down this path.

Any thoughts on this?

Could it be as easy as google maps?

You are partially correct.  You just need the Google Maps API (http://www.google.com/apis/maps/) to be able to develop code such as what you are looking for.

Is there a quick & dirty?
I'm pretty much incompetent with code.
I can hack by example in VB, write simple batch files and such, but the effort to actually code from scratch isn't worth doing for me.
Is the google api pretty simple - just plugging in variables - or does it actually require at least minimal fluency?

Truthfully, I've never used it, but I knew of it's existence which I read in a whitepaper.  The site says that the APIs require JavaScript knowledge, so it's not quick and dirty at all.
