I'm familiar with much of what's here (e.g., IISRESET). My question is more on the application pool side, not a local IIS. I'm looking for a code snippet and confirmation. Does iisrest /stop or start handle Application Pools? (Just a newbie question I guess...)

IISAPP.vbs is your buddy here.

Try "running iisapp /?" at a command line - it will give you usage parameters including how to recycle apppools.

If you need to use this as a code sample it is written in VB and can be adapted for other use as well.

Dave Dietz -

That seems to be leading in the right direction, only I get dialog box messages:
'This Script does not work with WScript.'
and then
'Would you like to register CScript as your default host for VBScript?'

What is this all about?...

Thanks.

it seems that with iisapp.vbs it is not able to stop or start an application pool only to reset / restart. maybe because it is not possible to query the actual state of that pool.

or does somebody know how to stop an start a pool with iisApp.vbs or with help of another script?
