We have Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 Enterprise setup. When accessing the web application/sites, standard domain authentication is working properly when using the server name address (ie:
https://servername). I want to be able to give alternate DNS records for single web applications (ie:
https://intranet.companyname.com or
https://intranet).
I can still access the site, but it is no longer using my domain credentials. I get the standard Micorosft username and password entry box. I can input my domain credentials and I can access the site, but I get prompted for my password when opening documents, etc...
Is there a way to create alternate access addresses for individual or group web applications in MOSS 2007? I have tried adding/changing "Alternate Access Mappings" in Central Administration, but that did not help me authenticate. Is this an IIS issue?
One other behavior is accessing Central Administration from the server requires entering credentials...?
