Question

How to set IIS FTP to use UK date format?

Asked by: Hildebar

I need to get my FTP site to list the 'date modified' date of files in UK dd/mm/yyyy format. Currently they are listed in US mm/dd/yyyy format. This causes an error when attempting to retrieve the file to a remote computer which is using UK format dates - e.g. today's file is dated 08/13/2007 - but there is no 13th month.

The FTP server is IIS6 on Windows 2003.
All the user accounts on the server are set to use UK regional date formats via the Windows Control Panel.
Altering the AspLCID setting in the IIS metabase from the default 2048 to UK 2057 did not resolve the issue.

Please can you help me find the setting which controls the international date format of the FTP site.

Hi,

Have you checked all your regional settings in control panel? I know it sounds daft but its worth checking them all out.

Regards,

Pritesh

You will have to change your logging format.
W3C Extended format uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), basically the same as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
The other formats use local time.
There is no way to change that.

You need to make sure the default region for the server is UK for this to work.
Go to regional control panel and setup as required. Then on the advance tab select apply as defaul. Restart server and all should be good.
Cheers

Thank you for your responses.

The regional settings in the control panel are set to English - UK. I have used the Advanced tab to set the default region for all users and restarted the server, but it has had no effect on the date format of the files as they are listed in the FTP folder.

I also experimented with the IIS logging format but changing it has had no effect on the date format of the files as they are listed in the FTP folder.

Please - does anyone have any other suggestions?

For some reason I thought you were asking about the log files.
I didn't find any way to change the directory listing format.
You can chose between MS-DOS or UNIX format and set FtpDirBrowseShowLongDate to true in the metabase to display four-digits years but there is no other option.

Control Panel -> Advanced -> (from the drop down menu - select the country that match your date and time formate you want, for example Arabic(Egypt) )

HI computer101

Sorry was offline for the last few days so missed the close request - but I want to point out that the accepted response won´t work.
Changing the default time for the current user won´t change it for system - hence log file will be the same format as normal.
The question should be deleted as it is mis-information for future users.
Thanks
Stuart
