ASP Scripts Suddenly Timing Out

For some reason this morning, all our ASP scripts that have multiple SQL Server queries have started timing out. All scripts with any queries have gotten very slow. We are running on SBS 2000 and SQL Server 2000. Was there an update tha went out over the weekend that could be causing a problem?

Have you tried running those queries from Query Analyzer ?
Unless you have changed the code, more likely it is patch issue

Yes I have run them in QA. Most are just simple selects to build screens. No joins, etc that would even by effected by indexes.

The code hasn't changed so I first thought it might have been a patch but haven't figured out how to see what patches might have been appled over the weekend by MS Update. We are running Windows 2000 SBS.

It seems like ALL queries are runnning slower through ASP and the scripts with multiples are just runing too long. I've just bumped the timeout to 300 seconds just to see if I can get them to complete.

Have you rebooted both Web and Db server ? clean up cache in IE. This could be a MDAC issue.

I've taken the entire server down (they are both on the same machine) and the issue is on all user's machines. I haven't cleared the cache on the machines. i'll do the server's but could that be the issue?

Where many records inserted or have you had a significant increase in traffic?
Do you have indexes or primary keys on the tables, and how many rows per table?
Could you post a sample of the selects?

Interestingly the issue went away as mysteriously as it came (whihc makes me VERY nervous). I had even brought Microsoft in to look over everything. We ran dumps, etc but never found the smoking gun. I think it had something to do with network communications even though both the IIS and SQL Server servers are on the same box. I could run a tracert on the box for itself and it would take 10 seconds for the results to com eback though I could do a tracert to experts-exchange.com and get results immediately. i'm just happy it's gone now and hope it doesn't come back.
