Browse All TopicsHi,
I need your help.
I have this web app which connects to the SQL server. Both web server and sql server is sitting on different servers.
The SQL server is using mixed authentication.
I created my userID with windows authentication and testerID with password in sql authentication.
1) When I open up the query analyzer I can log onto the sql server using the window authentication.
Since testerID has been created in sql authen with the password, I would think I should be able to logon to the query analyzer using the testerID/PW. It is telling me the login is not associated with the sql server login.
why is that?
2)If I used forms authentication in my asp.net app.
How do I connect to the sql server? say user TOm is accessing this web app and trying to logon.
Don't I have to add Tom as the sql user?
Then how do I pass his id/pw? Does sql server check using the window authen??
I am a little confused with how the forms authentication works.
I googled so I have read most of forms authentication examples but I guess I don't understand this correctly.
I used the impersonation in my web.config by putting my id and pw.
But this seems doesn't work on the remote server.
If a user logins this web app, how does this webform connects to the sql server?
What/whose credentials is he using??
