The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Windows 2003 IIS Default Website access problem with Exchange 07 OWA installed

Asked by speedway in Microsoft IIS Web Server, Exchange Email Server

Tags: Microsoft, Windows 2003 server, 2003, Exchange 2007 OWA

Im transferring from Windows 2000 server with Exchange 2000 to a new Windows 2003 server with Exchange 2007 installed on it.

I have a new Windows 2003 domain controller installed with Exchange 2007 installed on it.  Ive gone through the process of setting up the new Exchange 07 software (standard installation setup) and it is running run fine in parallel with the old Exchange 200 server.  I have transferred my own mailbox to the new Exchange 07 mailbox store and everything is testing fine.

Im trying to test the OWA access on the new Exchange 07 server and this is where Im running into problem.  I see the Exchange 07 installation have setup the OWA virtual directories under the default website under IIS.  When I tried to browse the default website using any method from the server itself, I get the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage error from IE.  Im talking about trying the servers IP, servername.domain.com, localhost, 127.0.0.1, or just from IIS right clicking default website browse.
At first I figured it must be the IIS or some related service not running so I checked all the services on the server and everything is running correctly.  I check the system, application, and IIS logs and nothing shows anything wrong.

I used IIS and made a new website and just pointed it to the same default Windows 2003 website directory at c:\Inetpub\wwwroot as the home directory.  I ran the new site, browsed to it in IE and it worked fine.  I could browse it in IE from the server itself using the IP, server name or local host.

So I know IIS is working fine on this server.  My question is why cant I browse the default website?  Obviously, since I cant test browse the default website, I cant test OWA.

Permission problem?  Security settings?  Exchange 07 OWA related problem?  Thanks for any pointers.
