Count outgoing emails from IIS SMTP

Hello

We currently run IIS SMTP service processing mails from various applications.  Is there a way to count how many emails the IIS SMTP service processes and sends out per day?

The only way I can think of is to turn on SMTP logging inside IIS Manager and then run a log file analyser such as Web Trends against the SMTP log files that were created.

That would give you reports showing how many emails had been sent.

Else..if you have good script writer..then u can fetch datas well from SMTP logs ina proper way as the above tools also does the same...

Uh, how about using Performance Monitor?

There is a counter called 'Messages Sent Total' in the SMTP Server object.

The description of the counter is "The total number of outbound messages sent."

Configure a perfmon trace log with just this counter and set the sample rate to 24 hours (or 1 day).
