So I guess the answer is, it can't be done?
I was afraid of that...
I guess I can setup a testing site inside wwwroot and move over after development...

c:\Web Sites\myWebsite
I like to run a browser on the server to check out error messages that can't be seen outside the server. At least, I haven't figured out a way to see them...
Anyone know how to use localhost to view these sites?

So u want to overide the permissions and view a higer root path on the server.... what code is your site based on ? asp.net..
FYI in a hosting envi...individual users and groups for individual sites are set by CPs and its not overridden...If u are trying this then it seems to fetch other site information from the server...
