I do not know ISA. But IMHO you have to connect through VPN tunnel to be able to access the local domain and network and be able to access the pages by windows authentification.

Browse All TopicsHi,
One academic staff has a secured web site on our internal web server, internal user clicks the URL of this web site, window authentication would popup for username and password.
External users to access this URL via our ISA server (Win ISA 2006) in our DMZ, then ISA redirect the traffic to the internal web server where the URL is located. However, when trying to access from external network the window authentication did not pop up.
It gives the error message 403 forbidden
Is there any one is able to help me ? HOW TO make "window authentication pop up" with this URL for external users? Is an issue on ISA?
Any information and help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
John

Hi,
Just would like to give you more information so you may be able to help me on this issue, please see the following setting on my ISA 2006 server:
There is a tab called "Authentication Delegation" on the property of one firewall policy rule (for this URL traffic), the current setting is "No delegation and client cannot authenticate directly", which may be the reason ISA rejects the traffic which needs to be authenticated on internal web server. If I change the setting to "No delegation and client may authenticate directly", this may be a remedy for this issue.
I am not sure about the impact and don't want to test this in a live environment unless I am absolutely sure what the impact would be.
Any information and help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

John
