how to read a log on a website that is down in windows server 2003
and find out what made website make 500 error

using one ip address for multiple websites
using host headers and iis6

You could use IIS log viewer which is free:

You need to know which URL was accessed - once you know that, look at the web site properties and determine which log file directory has the log with the data you need.

also make sure you check the event viewer of the server to make sure none of the IIS services stopped or a network blip

I changed the timezone on my computer once today by 5 hours
 so the time may be off

You can just view the event from there you dont need anything else to read the event viewer as its a viewer :) Have a look at time and date you want to narrow down to the time the issue occured and look and see if you see any errors
