Can I delete windows server 2003 IIS logs?
I was told that we had a lot of log files on our server that were taking up space and that I needed to find out what to do with them. I didn't even know which logs they were referring to so after a little research I've determined that they were the IIS logs. We have a whopping 13GB worth of logs for websites we own. Going all the way back to mid 2008.
I understand that these logs contain statistical information about our websites that may be of some interest to us. So here is what I want to know
I realize there are a lot of questions but I figure they all very closely related.
Thanks for the help

We currently use google analytics for our sites, if we use that do we need these logs?
Can I simply delete all of these logs?
Should I turn of the daily creation of the logs?
What are cluster, HTTPERR, and shutdown logs?
I also have an SMTPVC1 file, can I delete it's logs?
I realize there are a lot of questions but I figure they all very closely related.

ASKER
I really appreciate this solution. It answered so many questions. After a lot of things I have read I was very very close to delete everything and to stop the creation of new logs. It seemed like the easy way out, and I figured I wasn't using the logs. This quickly changed my mind. I really appreciate it.
Glad that helped. For me the most statifying conclusions are when I can change their thought process of the asker and they are enlightened about why they do something rather than just doing it by simply being spoon feed answers. Yes the easy way out is just to delete and not record as you don't use.
Also well done for wading through my many typos of my speedily typed (and unspellchecked) response. ;)
