When i try to access my sharepoint website remotely i have to sign in twice??

I have setup a new Sharepoint website.  It is the only website on a server with a static external ip address.  I can access the website, but i always have to sign in twice.  i am new to setting these sites up, and cannot find an answer to this on the normal web search engines.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
