V-79-57344-65072 - The Exchange Store Service is not responding. Backup set canceled.

I've got a Backup Exec 11d Rev 7170 fully patched Media server running Windows Server 2000 SP4. I am trying to backup a remote server running Server 2000 SP4 as well with Exchange 2000 ver. 6.0 SP3. The Exchange agent is installed and licensed on the Media server and the remote agent is installed on the remote Exchange server. They are both on the same LAN and there is not firewall between them. The media server successfully backs up 4 other servers but the Exchange server keeps getting the following error:
V-79-57344-65072 - The Exchange Store Service is not responding. Backup set canceled.

I have tried reinstalling the remote agent on the exchange, checked the event logs on both servers and googled it as well as checked Symantec's links. None have helped solve it so far. Any ideas?
