Change Backup Exec Logon Account for backups

Asked by isd721 in Backup Exec, Active Directory, Backup & Restore Software

Currently our Backup Exec is setup to use a domain admin account to do backups.  I would like to change that to a generic account only used for backups.  I created that account, added it to the Backup Operatros group, then changed the account specified in BE to do backups for those shares.  I did a test run and works fine on one server, but fails on the others.  All servers are running Remote Access client.  The log gives the following error:  e000846b.  When I change the account back to a domain admin it works fine.  Does the user have to be a domain admin for this to work?  I thought the Backup Operators group could backup/restore items independent of NTFS permissions.  I would rather not make the generic account a memeber of domain admins.  Thanks in advance for your help!Start Free Trial
