I just bought a Western Digital terabyte MyBook external hard drive to back up the drives on my laptop and office. Neither computer has firewire, so I have to use USB. I'm trying to back up my Toshiba Satellite P200 laptop's C drive using GoodSync on Vista Home Premium. The C drive is 160 gb with about 100 used. So far the backup's been running for over 24 hours, and it's still got the Users and Windows folders to go. GoodSync is showing the transfer speed at 164 kb/s. Is this normal for an initial backup of this size? If not, is it a function of the computer, the drive, or the software?
