is possible to recover an acronis´s corrupted backup ?

I made an acronis backup file (.tib), which is about 9gb, and the situation is like this:

1. The file appear as a correct type of acronis and I can click on it in order to see the backup date.
2. after double clicking on the backup date It shows the partition backed up (C:).
3. I double clicked on it and it is supposed that there should be the content information but it´s EMPTY

After all this I checked the backup with the acronis validation tool and it says that THE FILE IS CORRUPTED.

So, does it mean that the information is lost ?
