Installing the HDV codec

Hello,
I own a Sony block camera FCB-H10, it is not a consumer or prosumer camera, rather it is a machine vision camera the supplies me with pure HD 1920x1080 component video.  I am using this to stream HD video into a high powered WinTel computer in order to compress and store, on the fly (as it's streamed in).  This camera did not come with any software.  

My question is, there are a few MPEG2 codecs out there (spanky's, etc), but sony's HDV format that uses MPEG2 compression seems to be the most respected.  How does one insall this codec, or even find it.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDV
