My machine has restarted but anything that I "click" on does not work. I can't even do a normal shutdown.
Any suggestions?

Replacing invalid security id with default security id for file XXXXX
I assume it is making these replacements for every file?

Hey r-k!
Things are working OK after the restore. In fact, I have just reinstalled CS3 Web Preimun. I still have a few things to check. I do notice since installing CS3 that Roboform is not working AND if I click on a link within an email it does not respond... Before installing CS3 everything worked normally.
The machine is running XP Pro SP2. I only have one boot disk on the machine.
No, I didn't restore files from another disk.
Thanks for the update. I was intrigued by your symptoms because they are very unusual and they reminded me of something from quite a while back but I can't remember exactly.
I am glad the system is more stable. The problems with Roboform and email links are probably unrelated. For Roboform I'd suggest just reinstalling Roboform and see if that fixes it. Re. the email links not working, which email client are you using? I have to run now but will check back later. Thanks.

The followinging is what I found on Microsoft's Technet:
Replacing invalid security id with default security id for file filename.
Explanation:
The specified file has an invalid security ID. Each file on an NTFS or FAT volume has a security ID assigned it. The ID assigned to the data file does not match the ID assigned to security data stream file ($SDS). There is a mismatch in Ids. Chkdsk is replacing the invalid security ID. No user action required.
