SFC causes restart

i have a box with server 2003 installed that happens to be our domain controller that is giving us some strange errors, including system stand-alon optional component manager errors when trying to select add/remove components.  I tried to run sfc /runnow, but in about the middle of it the machine just restarts.  I am scared to try a repair install since it is the domain controller.... thanks in advance for the help, patrick
