Question

Missing Data Interface Drivers on my Dell XPS 1330 after XP was installed.

Asked by: Nomadics

I have a Dell XPS 1330 and removed Vista from it and installed XP Professional.

Most everything seems to be up and running fine with the exception of two missing drivers in the Device Manager.

They are listed under other devices and are both titled Data Interface.

The Details on the two are as follows.

USB\VID_413C&PID_8136&MI_00\6&30E76D7D&0&0000

USB\VID_413C&PID_8136&MI_01\6&30E76D7D&0&0001

I have installed all of the suggested drivers I have found on other forums. And all of the 1330 drivers from Dells support site I have also tried most of the XP drivers from the Inspiron 1501,1520 and 1521 series.

I have searched for several days for these missing drivers and any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

These could quite possibly be referring to a Dell Wireless Mobile Broadband 3G/HSDPA Minicard, i.e, Cingular or another provider.
I couldn't find the driver for the 1330 for XP though...

On second thoughts - try this:
http://ftp.us.dell.com/comm/R159896.EXE

Extract the files - and manually install using Device Manager.

Dell provides a complete set of XP drivers for this model. They can be found here:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WW1&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=XPS_M1330&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en

What process did you use to prep the hard drive for the downgrade from Vista to XP? Did you allocate a partition and format the drive or did you wipe the hard drive completely and start from scratch? If you didn't wipe the drive, it's probable there are remnants of Vista lurking in the background, and that's why no drivers you've tried have worked.

If you're not too far into it, I'd recommend starting over, using a tool like DBAN to *wipe* the hard drive and then installing XP and all the necessary drivers. You can download DBAN and find instructions on how to use it here:

http://dban.sourceforge.net

Thank you so much

I was not aware that this model actually came with the broadband card.

On the lesser models we usually use we have to add the card to them.

Either way thank you much for your help.
