Screen resolution must be set to highest on laptop for full screen

Hi,
I have a Dell 8200 running XP home.  The screen resolution has to be set at the highest setting for a full screen monitor.   If I lower the resolution, the monitor view is about half.  All drivers have been update from the Dell site for video.

Check your graphics card properties (go to display properties) and make sure that the Display Expansion is set to Full Screen (No Border).

Give this a shot.  Right click your desktop> properties> display properties window will come up, go to settings> advanced> display> a window with a selection of monitor types will come cup.  One of these selections is your monitor (possibly panel) and will be clickable.  Click on it and a new window will pop up.  There will be a radial button with a selection for scale image to panel size.  Make sure this is selected and OK out.

Some laptops have an "expand" function that is hardware-controlled; it's an Fn + Fx key combo and the manual should give you the correct procedure to stretch the screen.

thanks for the help to resolve this issue - sorry I haven't gotten back sooner, but the owner of the laptop misplaced the power cord and the battery is dead.  When the user brings back the laptop and cord, I will reopen the question.
