Question

DRIVERS - ATI GRAPHICS

Asked by: Newbie0000

I have an ATI video card and I can't find drivers because nowhere on the card does it say anything other than ATI? The S/N is F0409056218 and there is R92P-LD3 number on the card but that's about it. I have tried a few Catalyst drivers but nothing seems to work. The other markings on the card are as follows:

29-8330 VER 1
D33053
ATI HT B 94V-0 0436

Thanks in advance for the help.

Just unknown video controller. But I did go to Intel website http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm and it detected it as ATI Radeon 9250 so I will look for those drivers and hopefully it works, if not you will hear back from me!!

Thanks for the quick response.

OK ..

Here's the link to the drivers you'll need.

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

As usual, they are specific to the OS you are using.

From the product number you've posted this should be a PowerColor R92P-LD3 ATi Radeon 9250 256MB DDR PCI Video Card with TV-Out. Have a look at the picture attached to check.

If it is a 9250 then is won't be supported by the current version of Catalyst Drivers this range were last supported by Version 6.xx
Try this download for a sutable version http://www.oldapps.com/ati.php (start with the 6.3 version) remember to cleanly uninstall any previous versions first.

That is exactly it, how did you find that info??? Anyway the video is fine now. But of course I do have another problem, I installed all of the drivers for the Intel Chipset 865GV, the motherboard is P4P800-MX but it still won't see the USB in the front or back??? I have gone through device manager all looks fine and did and "update driver" but it doesn't find anything???

>>how did you find that info???
You posted the card's product number, that = Radeon 9250 - that used to be a "State of the Art" gamiing card so I happened to know that Ati stopped supporting the chipset with Cat 6.xx ...

Re the USB problem:

You've installed the chipset drivers from here:
http://support.asus.com/download/download_item.aspx?product=1&model=P4P800-MX ??

Have you checked the USB options in the BIOS setup?

by: Newbie0000Posted on 2009-08-09 at 12:36:54ID: 25055607

I downloaded the chipset from the Intel site, let me try this one and get back to you.

Thanks again,

Nope, still having problem. I downloaded the chipset and usb fix but it still doesn't see the usb??

Check your ports are working outside of Windows.  i.e. if you have a USB keyboard does it work whne booting to access and move through the menus in the BIOS setup screens?
If not you may have a faulty USB hub.  If it works OK then you need to reinstall the USB drivers.  If there's nothing vital on this machine I'd go for a reinstall of Windows.  If you want to preserve your install then try deleting the hubs from Device Manager in Windows and then rebooting and allowing Windows to redetect them.

I have this pc on a switchbox so it won't see the USB keyboard, but I did reinstall XP and drivers and am still having a problem with it seeing the USB ports, It was fine before it was rebuilt so I think it must be drivers maybe??

by: MASQUERAIDPosted on 2009-08-15 at 09:54:55ID: 25106058

Will it work with a USB KB directly connected?  If so it's the KVM switch that is letting you down - see if has an option for an accessory power supply to keep the USB ports live during booting.

by: Newbie0000Posted on 2009-08-15 at 09:57:23ID: 25106063

No, when I unplug the PS2 KVM keyboard connection it doesn't see the USB keyboard but I think that is a KVM issue, I will try it with out the KVM at all and see if it works.

OK, I am rebuilding the PC again, where would be the best place to download the drivers for the motherboard P4P800-MX and the best order to install them so I can get this USB issue resolved?

by: MASQUERAIDPosted on 2009-08-20 at 12:56:02ID: 25146425

Use the link I posted above.  Start by downloading the pdf manual. the last few pages describe the order that the drivers should be installed (see Support Disk).  All the drivers can be downloaded from the same link.
