You should contact Sony to get a recovery disc. They usually only charge about $20 plus shipping.

As for the Windows XP disc, it does not have SATA drivers and will not allow you to install on a drive with SATA. You can use a disc from another brand computer (like a Dell) that already has SATA drivers and install Windows as long as the version matches your COA sticker. It will say that it is an invalid product key when you try to activate Windows. Click the button to enter another product key and then use the one from the bottom of your laptop. It should activate then.
