When an msi tries to execute a repair

The repair takes very long and the message "install server not responding" appears.

Windows Installer CleanUp Utility might be able to help. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

To fix this problem automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Click Run in the File Download dialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

You can try to kill one of the MSIEXEC processes using Task Manager. Installation will stop or continue normally. Kill the process with highest CPU load.

If a certain application is causing this, use the Event Viewer of enable MSI logging (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300) to determine the offending MSI.

What MSI is being repaired?

it was a keypath file that was allways disapearing on the target machine that whas causing the repair

Any news? Did you find out which keypath? And a reason why this was always disappearing? Any interesting info you care to share?

The keypath was a log file which name conained a timestamp.
Probably the application cleanup up old log files automatically ,  which caused the repair to be triggere over and over again.

I delete the log file from the mis and my problem was solved.
