Computer will not boot from CD ROM drive.

I am trying to reload windows via OEM XP Home SP2 CD. I can hear the drive spinning up but it will not boot from CD Master drive.

I have set the drive pin to master. No luck. The CD Rom is located at the end of the 2nd IDE cable (Master).

I have tried multiple CD or DVD ROM drives with various boot disks. Same thing, sounds like its going to work but no workie.

Could Compaq put a boot block on the mobo?

I noticed the master HDD has a recovery partition of XP SP1. I dont want to use this.

Model of computer is S6200CL Presario
