Bootmagic won't boot. "-." st start

Hi,
I have a 750 GB hard drive that was running XP. I installed Boot magic on a fat partition in the H drive (C was 200 GB, NTFS, E was 300 GB NTFS, G was 190 GB FAT 32 and H was 8 GB FAT.)
It was probably a mistake to install bootmagic to H. I also probably did not uncheck disable boot magic. Now I am in a spot because when I restart I just get "-." at the prompt.

Question 1: What can I do??? If I cannot do anything, the question 2->
Question 2. If I need to get data of the hard drive urgently, should I disconnect the current hard drive, install an OS on another hard drive, and reconnect the old drive and copy the data?
