Question

Paragon Partition and lost partition

Asked by: adriankillops

Hi - I'm running Vista Ultimate and ran Paragon Partition Professional to resize my [data] partition to free up space to assign to my [boot] partition.
It seemed the script that ran when restarting was going to move more than the 15Gb I selected so I cancelled the operation.

Now my [data] partition is showing as RAW format and not formatted although the D: letter is still assigned.

I have around 40-60Gb worth of data here, is it possible to recover this?

Quite possible.

Your best bet is to slave this hard disk into another computer.

Try GetDataBack http://www.runtime.org/  Free to try.  If it sees the missing files you pay for full functionality.

Also look at PCInspector http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm and Recuva http://www.recuva.com/

Both are free.

I'd try GetDataBack.  If it sees your files then try the free ones.  If they work you save money.

Yes, it is possible to recover the data.
Run Partition Manager 9.0
Then select Advanced Partitioning - Partition Manager 9.0 to open full scale window of the program.
There right click on RAW partition and delete it. Apply changes.
Then, right click on free space left after deleting and select Undelete Partition. Let it run and find NTFS or FAT formatted partition (depends on what FS your partition had previously).
It WILL find your partition. When found undelete it and assign drive letter if this is not done automatically.
This solution is tested and works fine. No need to use any other third party software when you have Partition Manager.
Next time, take backup image of the partition with same Paragon Partition Manager 9.0 you have. BTW, I just got mail that version 10.0 is released.

Yes: Paragon Partition Professional will allow you to Undelete the Partition.
As long as you have not messed with it after you deleted the Partition.
Follow Paragon Partition Professional's helpful  help tab.

USE:
Undelete Partition Wizard

Undelete Partition Wizard is intended for automatic locating and restoring accidentally deleted partitions. You can set search criteria to make locating of deleted partitions flash-like.

Even if you accidentally deleted one of your hard disk partitions during system optimization or new hard disk deployment, you can restore your data with Drive Copy's Undelete Partition Wizard. All you have to do with Undelete Partition Wizard to undelete your partition is to:

Select the hard drive or free block that should be scanned for deleted partitions. You should simply click the check box next to any hard drive or free block shown on the intuitive tree-like list of hard drives available. Or just select "recover lost partitions" in right-click menu clicking on appropriate partition in Drive Copy's main window.
Select the partition to undelete in found recoverable partitions list.

And there you are! Undelete Partition Wizard will automatically recover your partition just the way it was.

Noxcho....

Flipping excellent answer, i honestly wouldn't have thought about deleting the partition to then undelete it!!

Worked a treat. I will copy the data to my 2nd disk then format to copy back as i appear to have lost some space, not a problem now though.

Thanks to others who confirmed PM can undelete but as Noxcho was 1st to answer, will happily assign you the full points.

Thanks a million again!
